Overview
Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST), the Energy Commission of Malaysia, regulates the electricity supply industry and the use of electrical installations and apparatus. Products on the Controlled Energy-Consuming Products (CECP) list — including air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, and lighting — require an energy efficiency label before they may be sold in Malaysia.
High-risk electrical apparatus (switchgear, transformers, cables, consumer units) require a separate ST approval demonstrating conformity with the relevant MS IEC standards.
