UAE
Middle East
The UAE requires telecommunications and radio equipment type approval from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). Regulated consumer products must additionally obtain Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) certification before they may be placed on the UAE market. AECS manages TDRA type approval, ECAS conformity assessment, and the UAE Authorised Representative obligations that apply to foreign manufacturers.

Regulatory landscape
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), formerly the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), regulates the telecommunications sector in the UAE. TDRA type approval is mandatory for all telecommunications and radio equipment before it may be sold or used in the UAE, including devices with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LTE, and 5G capabilities.
ESMA (Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology) administers the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) for regulated consumer products including electrical appliances, toys, building materials, and petroleum products. Products on the mandatory list must be ECAS-certified and registered in theIRS (Integrated Registration System) before customs clearance.
