Thailand
Southeast Asia
Thailand operates mandatory product certification under the Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) for a wide range of consumer and industrial goods, and telecommunications type approval through the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). AECS manages TISI product licence applications, NBTC type approval, and the local agent and importer requirements that Thai regulations impose on foreign manufacturers.

Regulatory landscape
TISI (สำนักงานมาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์อุตสาหกรรม) administers Thailand’s compulsory standards (มอก.). Products on the mandatory list must be licensed before import or sale. The licensing process requires testing at a TISI-recognised laboratory and factory inspection for locally manufactured goods.
NBTC type approval is required for all telecommunications terminal equipment and radio devices used in Thailand. The NBTC approval certificate must be held by a Thai-registered entity.
Key standards bodies
- TISI — Thai Industrial Standards Institute
- NBTC — National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission
