Regulatory landscape
DES (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Elektrik) under the Ministry of Energy administers electrical installations and equipment approvals under the Electricity Order 2006. Electrical products must be tested to relevant IEC or BS standards before they may be sold or installed.
AITI administers telecommunications equipment type approval under the Telecommunications Order 2001. All terminal and radio equipment requires AITI type approval before it may be imported or used.
